1 Jersey City cop critical, 3 others hurt in police shooting that leaves 2 suspects dead

Police at the scene of a shooting this morning at Bergen Avenue and Reed Street that left four Jersey City cops wounded and two suspects dead.

One Jersey City police officer has been critically wounded and three others suffered minor injuries in a shooting this morning that left two suspects dead, officials have confirmed for The Jersey Journal.

Family members of the four shot officers have been rushed to the Jersey City Medical Center where a news conference is expected to take place shortly.

The incident started just after 5 this morning at 24 Reed St., off Bergen Avenue, an area residents say is known for drug trafficking.

Neighbors say they heard multiple shots and then the area was swarmed with police and SWAT officers.

It is believed one officer was shot in the initial incident and then three others and the two suspects hit later as police were searching for the shooter.
