Officers and survivors partner to prevent parole for Ohio cop killer
On January 21, 1987, a 22-year-old police officer for the Village of Morrow, Ohio named Jeffrey Manning Phegley was shot and killed in the line of duty while performing a traffic stop. Anthony Wayne McIntosh was convicted of the murder of Officer Phegley later that same year and was sentenced to 15-years-to-life, with an additional three years for using a gun during the commission of his crime. McIntosh has once been denied parole by the Central Office Review Board of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority, but he is again being considered for parole. PoliceOne Columnist Lt. Some of the people hired as officers amazes me!BOISE, Idaho – A Gooding County Sheriff’s deputy shot accidentally by another deputy at his home is back at work after four weeks recuperation.Deputy Jeremy Smith, who returned to work Monday, was shot in the hand Aug. 31 by a .22 caliber Ruger Mark IV handgun at the Hagerman home of Sgt. Dave Kiger, the agency’s armorer. OMAHA, Neb. –Some Omaha police officers are making a financial sacrifice to make sure they have high-powered weapons for use on the job.AR-15 rifles are standard for the Omaha Police Department’s Emergency Response Unit, but rank-and-file officers still have the option of buying their own. Akron, Ohio Lays Off 96 Officers
