HEADLAND, Ala. — Officers in southeast Alabama shot a suspect to death after he killed one police officer and badly wounded a sheriff’s deputy, authorities said.Police said they got a call Friday afternoon that 53-year-old Fred Davis was firing a shotgun into the air outside his trailer. He loved being a police officer – patrolling the midnight shift and making his fellow officers howl with his self-deprecating humor.”He loved doing the job,” Boston Heights Police Chief Joseph Varga said. “He couldn’t get enough of it.
