Some of the people hired as officers amazes me!BOISE, Idaho – A Gooding County Sheriff’s deputy shot accidentally by another deputy at his home is back at work after four weeks recuperation.Deputy Jeremy Smith, who returned to work Monday, was shot in the hand Aug. 31 by a .22 caliber Ruger Mark IV handgun at the Hagerman home of Sgt. Dave Kiger, the agency’s armorer. OMAHA, Neb. –Some Omaha police officers are making a financial sacrifice to make sure they have high-powered weapons for use on the job.AR-15 rifles are standard for the Omaha Police Department’s Emergency Response Unit, but rank-and-file officers still have the option of buying their own. Akron, Ohio Lays Off 96 Officers

Morons shooting at firetrucks going to a fire….Ya can’t make this stuff up!Las Vegas Review-JournalA suspect has been killed following an incident in which police responded to a call that shots were being fired at firefighters putting out a house fire.Las Vegas police responded about 12:30 p.m. to the 1200 block of Comstock Drive, near Washington Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard.One officer received minor injuries in the incident during an exchange of gunfire between police and the suspect. Houston Gets Wireless Fingerprint Devices

Back in 1990 when I was a rookie they said that someday these would be available. Pretty cool! Houston police have a new crime-fighting tool, KPRC Local 2 reported Wednesday.The department is using the Blue Check Mobile Identification Device and the Mobile ID II device to check the true identities of potential criminals.HPD has been using five of the Mobile ID II devices in patrol cars since July 31. The devices can scan fingerprints and compare them to those in HPD’s database and in the FBI’s Repository for Individuals of Special Concern. Wash. deputy dies after patrol car crash with elk

You don’t hear about this type of thing too often. Seattle TimesCHEHALIS, Wash. — The Lewis County sheriff’s office has identified the deputy killed in a collision with an elk as 34-year-old Stephen “Mike” Gallagher of Adna.The sheriff’s office says he was a six-year veteran of the department who previously served eight years in the Army with deployments in Haiti and Kosovo. He leaves a wife and two young children.Chief Deputy Stacy Brown says Gallagher died Tuesday night at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.He was fatally injured Monday night while heading to back up another deputy on a domestic violence call. Prisoner Overpowers Maryland Deputy in Car, Escapes
