Conn. officer fatally shot checking suspicious activity
NORWALK, Conn. — Police blocked off city streets and searched with dogs for a suspect after an officer was gunned down early Friday while responding to a report of suspicious activity in a secluded parking lot.Officers responded within one minute of Officer Matthew Morelli’s last transmission to headquarters, but found the 11-year veteran of the police department and former Marine intelligence analyst dead, said Chief Harry Rilling.Police said Morelli was shot just before 12:30 a.m. in a parking lot on Lubrano Place in south Norwalk, about 50 miles northeast of New York City.Rilling said it was premature to release any …Read more […..]
N.M. sgt. in critical condition; shooter sought
RUIDOSO DOWNS, N.M. — A Lincoln County sheriff’s deputy was in critical condition Thursday night after being shot by a fugitive as he tried to make a traffic stop in this southeastern New Mexico community.Watch the video news report on BLUtube.com Sgt. Robert Shepperd was being treated at Thomason Hospital in El Paso, Texas. Shepperd has been with the sheriff’s office for about seven years, said state police Lt. Cops: Woman sat on boyfriend's toilet for 2 years
By Roxana HegemanAssociated Press WICHITA, Kan. — Deputies say a woman in western Kansas became stuck on her boyfriend’s toilet after sitting on it for two years.Ness County Sheriff Bryan Whipple said it appeared the 35-year-old Ness City woman’s skin had grown around the seat. SAN FRANCISCO — A controversial new Web site has surfaced that has officers fuming over privacy, fairness and officer safety concerns.
