Put him in “unrestrained.” Not good….
HOLDERNESS, N.H. — New Hampshire police say a man has been charged with drunk driving and escape after driving away in a police cruiser.
Police in Holderness said officers suspected 25-year-old James Russo of Laconia was driving while intoxicated Tuesday night. The officers stopped Russo and put him in the back of a police cruiser unrestrained, believing he had a malformation of the left hand.
Police said the officers went to talk to other occupants in the car when Russo took control of the cruiser and fled. Police said he crashed the cruiser in an embankment a few miles away in Campton and ran away. He wasn’t found during a search and ultimately turned himself in to police on Wednesday afternoon.
