Northlake Mayor Jeffrey Sherwin in Hot Water!

I would think an attorney would know better. But, coming from the town of Northlake….And, this man and his cohort, Police Chief Dennis Koletsos, both arrogantly stood in judgement of many police officers(most who supported the police union) for, in some cases,  more trivial matters. The old saying that what comes around goes around stands true in this case. Best wishes to Jeffrey Sherwin and Dennis Koletsos! Great Job CBS Chicago’s Pam Zekman! LAPD officers who complained about ticket quotas are awarded $2 million

This reminds me of a previous employer, the Northlake Police Department in Illinois, led by Chief Dennis Koletsos. We were told that these were called standards as in performance standards. Officers were disciplined if they didn’t meet the “standards” which included numbers of tickets. The veteran motorcycle officers alleged in a lawsuit that they were punished with bogus performance reviews, threats of reassignment and other forms of harassment after objecting to demands from commanding officers that they write a certain number of tickets each day. Ticket quotas are illegal under state law. There’s a fine …Read more […..]

Should Doctors En Route To Surgery Receive Speeding Tickets?

Special Treatment Often Doesn’t ApplyThere are a million and one excuses that you can come up with to try to avoid a speeding ticket. You can say you are late to pick up your child at school or that you are sick to your stomach and need to find a bathroom fast.Or that you had a run-in with a beefy, mean-looking trucker at a rest stop and you are trying put as many miles between him and you as you can. And if that means putting the pedal to the metal for 10 straight minutes on the freeway, so be it.But few of your excuses will match the impact that a doctor can bring to bear: “I am a physician and I’m on the way …Read more […..]

What did you do at work today?

To all the people who have disdain and bad feelings towards the police, you have no idea what the job entails unless you have been there. What you hear from the media and from the people who have been in trouble with the police doesn’t come close to what police officers face every day. God Bless them and protect them! Phil, The Honorable Cop

One of the most honorable and humble people I have ever know is a man that I was able to work with for over 10 years. Before I worked with him I observed him during my childhood as his parents house was down the street from me and across the street from my friends house. I remember seeing him pull up in his squad car, a very dashing and good looking guy–no I am not gay– who always waved to us kids and always seemed to have a smile on his face. I didn’t have any run-ins with him as a kid but I know that if I did they would have been worthy experiences as this man perpetuated the term honorable and humble. A little background …Read more […..]

NEWS: Northlake sues insurance company after losing employment suit

More money for the City of Northlake to pay out regarding lawsuits against the Northlake Police Department and Police Chief Dennis Koletsos…… September 9, 2010 By MARK LAWTON mlawton@pioneerlocal.com In a kind of chain reaction, a lawsuit against the city of Northlake has led the city to file a lawsuit of its own. In January 2008, Daniel Rasic filed a lawsuit against the city of Northlake, Police Chief Dennis Koletsos and the Police and Fire Commission. Rasic was hired as a police officer by the city in 1999. He filed suit against the city in 2008, claiming the city had fired him for taking family …Read more […..]

My Personal Recollections of Co-workers, Northlake is “Cleaned Up?”

I will be posting my recollections, memories, and stories of my former co-workers. I will be posting positive memories of people I worked with, was friends with and respected. I have heard that the Northlake Police chief may have been saying negative things about past officers and that he has “cleaned up” the department since he came in 1998. Well, I strongly believe that there were no “bad” officers that needed “cleaning up” in the way that it is inferred. It is true that a past Chief was in trouble with the Feds and that he was forced out and paid the price. However, I ask this….If the department was so “bad” then why …Read more […..]
