Bystanders rescue man from fiery wreck on South Side

A city water management worker on his way to an overnight shift late Sunday rescued a man whose pickup truck slammed into a metal bridge support beam and burst into flames in the Brighton Park neighborhood, police said. Just before 11 p.m., Daniel Green, 36, an emergency crew dispatcher for the Department of Water Management, was stopped at the eastbound traffic light on Pershing Road at Western Avenue when a northbound Ford F150 crashed into a support beam. Police catch carjacker after wild ride down Kennedy

SUN-TIMES MEDIA WIRE A man has been charged with allegedly carjacking a BMW on the Far Northwest Side on Wednesday morning, driving erratically at high speeds down the Kennedy Expressway, then crashing into a parked car just west of the River North area. The entire episode, from carjacking to capture, took less than 20 minutes. At least 4 dead, 12 wounded in holiday night violence

Happy 4th of July Chicago…. Sad state of affairs…. At least four people were left dead and 12 wounded in overnight shootings in Chicago, most on the South Side, officials said. The most recent homicide occurred at 5:06 a.m. this morning, when police said an unidentified man was found dead in the 7900 block of South Ingleside Avenue in the East Chatham neighborhood after being shot in the chest. No other information was available.
