Police Officer
Earl, True Blue 24/7
After being hired by the Northlake Police Department and graduating from the Chicago Police Academy, the first police officer got to really know, besides my FTO, was Earl. I remember my first impression, and the first impression is very important, was that this guy was very confident and knew his stuff. My FTO, Dan, had told me which officers I could trust and which ones I couldn’t and Earl was the first that I was told I could trust. I took this with a bit of hesitation since several of the old timers, Don M., Louie D. and Tommy O., had each told me, in general, to watch out who I trusted. Boy, what a way to enter a workplace! The report will show a significant increase in the number of law enforcement officer fatalities from 2009 to 2010. This devastating surge in officer deaths is discouraging following 2009, when fatalities decreased 16 percent; the lowest number of line-of-duty deaths since 1959. Phil, The Honorable Cop
One of the most honorable and humble people I have ever know is a man that I was able to work with for over 10 years. Before I worked with him I observed him during my childhood as his parents house was down the street from me and across the street from my friends house. I remember seeing him pull up in his squad car, a very dashing and good looking guy–no I am not gay– who always waved to us kids and always seemed to have a smile on his face. I didn’t have any run-ins with him as a kid but I know that if I did they would have been worthy experiences as this man perpetuated the term honorable and humble. A little background …Read more […..]
